Zombie Blondes Review

Title: Zombie Blondes
Author: Brian James
Publication Date: June 24, 2008
Published by: Feiwel And Friends
Format: Hardcover, 240  pages

Summary
From the moment Hannah Sanders arrived in town, she felt there was something wrong.
A lot of houses were for sale, and the town seemed infected by an unearthly quiet. And then, on Hannah’s first day of classes, she ran into a group of cheerleaders—the most popular girls in school.
The odd thing was that they were nearly identical in appearance: blonde, beautiful, and deathly pale.
But Hannah wants desperately to fit in—regardless of what her friend Lukas is telling her: If she doesn’t watch her back, she’s going to be blonde and popular and dead—just like all the other zombies in this town. . . .
So you can tell from the one star rating I'm not a fan of this book. Other than the really cool cover it totally disappointed me, I thought what a cool concept, going to a new school to find out it's run by zombie cheerleaders and football players.

My Thoughts
First, there just wasn't enough action, it's a zombie book there should be all kinds of it. Sure the last four or five chapters are full of it but what about the rest of the book? Well that was filled with the protagonist being a self centered and shallow brat. She doesn't give a flying crap abut anyone but her and what she wants, and all she cares about is being popular. She manages to make one friend Lukas (the only thing i did enjoy), and she does nothing but tell him he's a freak, a loser, and he's insane for thinking everyone is a zombie, I honestly can't figure out why the hell he didn't just skip town and leave her there to rot. It's painfully obvious there's something wrong but in her stupid quest for acceptance she just pretends she can't see any of it.
The ending was just as frustrating, if not more. Nothing gets answered. How did it start? What happens now? Was there a message or point in all of this? The book was short so I read it to the end, if it was a 400 page book I'm sure I would have stopped reading. Zombie Blondes get 1 out of 5.
