Summary
Seventeen-year-old Savannah Henderson has but one dream - to hold the Olympic gold in saber fencing. A new fencing coach promises to make her Olympic dream a reality. However, he is not what he seems and she finds her life taking a bizarre, dangerous turn as she is thrust headlong into a war between two impossible, mythical species, one bent on destroying the human race, the other determined to protect it.

My Thoughts
This is one of those books where I looked at the  cover and thought "meh" but the inside was SO good. From the summary I got the idea I would be following a girl through an epic battle between two species where she was caught in the crossfire. Which happens but it's not what the book was centered around. The story was more character driven than plot driven and the budding romance between Savannah and Luke takes center stage.
Savannah is an admirable and lovable female lead. Savannah's parents are lead busy professional lives leaving little time for her, causing her to misplaced and lonely. She fills her time with fencing and Kendo making her a confident, independent and totally awesome lead character. She finds solace in Luke, and a place to belong in his huge family.
Luke is adorable, he is a total gentleman and always keeps Savannah in line. He ensures she follows curfew rules when she could care less and even make her study to keep her grades up. He even tries to pull the macho man "let me protect you" a few times but Savannah won't have it.
It takes a little while to get to the action and the conflict in the book, but unlike some other books you don't get bored waiting for it to show up. The story is still interesting and engaging when your not immersed in an intense moment. Children of The Lost Moon has a little bit of everything. It has action, adventure, mythology, romance, and friendship. It was a great read and I definitely recommend it. 4 out of 5.
